WHO WHAT WHY WHEN

WHO

I am Caro Etchart, a multidisciplinary designer and textile artist. Forever passionate about textures, style and photography I founded Argenta Lab, a universe where all these passions merge.

I was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and I am now based in Montreal, Canada, since 2021.

Curious as ever, I started experimenting with the amazing craft of crochet and could never really stop. I created a world where I could share my thoughts and feelings about life, society and trends in a textured experimental way.

WHAT

Crochet wear: Everything that can be wrapped around the body.

Every piece is made freehand and consciously, and is the result of a particular exploration of the material in one of their million possibilities. Depending on the bond of the research, it can bring me to create either one single piece, an entire outfit, or a petite capsule.

WHY

This project started in movement and that is still my main source of inspiration. It was named after a slang for 'Argentine women'. A country that is beautiful as it is: messy, diverse and in constant movement. 'Movement' being, probably, Argentina's one and only constant.

I create from my own state of mind and I like to think that I am always transforming and readapting. I am driven by change.

I discovered at a very young age that, when it comes to clothing, we can only wear what we buy, and we can only buy what the market has to offer. But what the market has to offer is defined by trends, so there are usually the same clothes in every store, with a very tiny few variations. (Yes, that's probably why I started making clothes for myself when I was 14yo, and then expanded it further by studying fashion design).

I want to offer something different, for people who see the world as I see it, or at least for those who believe in having a different perspective on life and dare to show it by playing with their own style and image.

WHEN & WHERE

In 2019, in Montañita, Ecuador. While traveling and living in a camper van, at a huge parking lot by the ocean. Argenta came all the way from Ecuador to Montreal, where it has been living and evolving since 2021.

And tbh, I'd be curious to see where we will be going next.
